Well, all the buzzes and those intriguing factors have finally coming to an end. We entered to the business end of the tournament, where the teams for the final spot in the semifinal race is set to be revealed. But, just like an Oscar-winning thriller movie, it has got a couple of interesting twists, which would see one between the hosts England and Pakistan exit from the tournament.
Currently, the Indian National Cricket Team, Aaron Finch-led Australian team have got the Qualification mark to play the semifinals of the tournament despite having one game each to play. But, the interesting thing is among New Zealand, England and Pakistan.
Yeah, New Zealand more or less confirmed for the semifinals but in a game like a cricket anything can happen and its just a matter of one good day for the player to turn the tables for his respective team. Let’s get into the details:
Scenarios For Semi-Final Qualification:
1. New Zealand:
They have got outside chance to take the slot in the final four teams. However, the cool thing for them to do is to win the game against England and take the spot in a commanding way.
Even if they lose they got high chances to play the last stage unless Pakistan does unthinkable against Pakistan, which would outsmart the NRR of the Kiwis.
They have got only one aim to do. Just win it and seal it would be the motto for them. If they win against New Zealand, they would happily land in the semifinals without any further calculations.
But losing to the Kiwis will make things look bleak for the hosts. If they lose they should hope Bangladesh team beat Pakistan team in their final league game. Eoin Morgan-led side would hope to do well.
As always, Pakistan has become an intriguing aspect once again in the tournament. They are desperately hoping New Zealand side to beat England team in order to open gates for them.
If New Zealand beats England then it would be a straightforward thing for Pakistan, as they reach semifinals if they win against lower-ranked Bangladesh team.
Even if England wins the game against New Zealand, Pakistan would get the chance. But, they need to outsmart Bangladesh with a massive margin, which would be a very tough ask.
