Over the years, India delivered a quality number 4 batsman. They ruled the roost at that slot before losing out their places for obvious reasons. Meanwhile, of late, the Indian team suffered a lot for the perfect replacement at that slot, where they finally satisfied with KL Rahul in the World Cup. But, unfortunately, he was asked to open the innings again with Shikhar Dhawan being ruled out.

Somewhere in between the brilliance of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the knock of KL Rahul went unnoticed. The flamboyant batsman stood up to the task by showing his brilliance to the cricketing world with his strokes down the ground. But, Dilip Vengsarkar isn’t happy with the way the youngster dismissed.

The former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar makes his voice on the Karnataka Batsman. Dilip isn’t happy with the way KL Rahul delivering those poor strokes in the middle of the overs. He believes that there was a century for taking to KL Rahul but he failed to make it happen.

KL Rahul played some stupid shots – Dilip Vengsarkar

Dilip Vengsarkar asked KL Rahul to stop playing those stupid shots during his innings. He wants KL Rahul to play with determination in the middle of his innings, which would see him scoring more than 150 runs in ODI game.

Converting the starts into big knocks has always been a tough ask for the youngster. Even in the Test matches, he registered the record of scoring consecutive fifties but failed to convert them into century at least once.

“KL Rahul has a lot of potential but he should score big runs. A 100 was there for the taking (against Pakistan) yet he chucked his wicket away. He played some stupid shots which I would not recommend to anyone,” he told India Today.

“He can score straight and get runs. He has got so many shots. But he must be hungry for runs because he is good enough to score 150-170. He is a great player. I like him to be honest but when he plays some of these stupid shots, I don’t like it,” he concluded.

Well, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for the youngster. Most probably, India would ask him to open the innings in all the remaining games for the country. His form is a much-needed requirement for the Indian National Cricket Team.
