Finally, the wait for the Indian clash is over in the ICC World Cup 2019. They are all set to take on Faf du Plessis-led South African side in their first clash of the tournament. Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council came up with wishes to the ”King” Virat Kohli in a special way.
India kicks off their 2019 ICC World Cup campaign against under-fire South Africa at the Hampshire Bowl in Southampton. India is one of the favourites going into the tournament. South Africa, on the other hand, have endured a disastrous start to their campaign, losing both their matches so far.
Virat Kohli will enter as a number-one ranked batsman:
The Indian National Cricket Team is performing exceptionally in all conditions. They have got the best batting lineup, which is equally being backed up by the bowling department. The area for improvement is pretty low, which would certainly put them on top of the chart.
Virat Kohli, preparing to lead the Indian team at the World Cup for the first time, will have a fully fit squad at his disposal as he would aim to further dent South Africa’s hopes of qualifying into the semi-finals of the quadrennial event.
Kohli, arguably the best batsman of this generation, and vice-captain Rohit Sharma have scored more centuries (63) together than the entire South Africa squad combined (61).
India and South Africa have played a total of 83 matches against each other, with the Proteas holding advantage having won 46 of those matches while losing only 34. At neutral venues, the head-to-head stats go a little even, with SA winning 11 of the 21 matches and IND taking 9.
Well, coming back to the topic, ahead of the South African clash, ICC tweeted a picture of Virat Kohli, who was dressed like a ”King” The fans enjoyed the tweet, as they sent in their wishes to the Indian skipper.
