ICC World Cup 2019: India, Australia Are Standout Performers – Clive Lloyd

The former Windies Great Clive Lloyd believes that the Indian National Cricket Team has been sensational in the tournament so far. He feels that they have learnt the conditions pretty well alongside the Australian team in the tournament. He believes that is the key for any side to win the cup.

They have been the stand-out teams –

Speaking of the same, the former Windies skipper Clive Lloyd, who helped Windies team to win the title Twice during 1975 and 1979 quoted that the England team will join the Indian team, Australians and New Zealand in the semifinals of the tournament.

”Australia are already assured of a place in the semi-finals and India are likely to join them. They have been the two stand-out teams for me at this World Cup. They have understood the conditions better than any of the others and have strolled through. That is the key here,” Clive Lloyd wrote in his column.

Australia has a lot of old guards – Clive Lloyd

Defending Champions Australia were the first to book a final-four spot and will be battling for the top position with India and New Zealand as the league phase draws to a close. On the other hand, India faced only one defeat in the tournament so far.

”Australia have a lot of the old guard still going strong and that includes Mitchell Starc. He is one of the best around right now, knows these conditions and is swinging the ball perfectly. It will be tough for any side to face him, while Alex Carey – the wicket-keeper – could well turn out to be the star of this World Cup,” he added.

Well, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for both the teams in the remaining part of the tournament. For now, both the teams would be looking to finish the league stage on top.
