With India currently facing New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019, the world cricket governing body International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive is in awe of Team India’s show at the twelfth edition of the ODI showpiece.

To shed light on India’s imperious run, the pillars of success have been Rohit Sharma apart from India’s leading wicket-taker Jasprit Bumrah with the ball. The Ahmedabad-based star had done an outstanding job by stemming the run flow.

With Men in Blue already looking in good stead despite losing a toss at the Old Trafford in Manchester, Bumrah has dismissed out-of-form Martin Guptill.

Meanwhile, the outgoing ICC CEO Richardson has hailed Bumrah’s role for Team India. He has deemed the youngster as the ‘top-class performer’.

The 25-year-old right-arm speedster Bumrah has already 18 scalps under his belt. Also, during the ongoing World Cup, his best figures of four for 55 came against Bangladesh in Birmingham.

Eventually, the death bowling specialist has kept his economy well under 4.50.

Apart from the Man of the Match award against Afghanistan at the Southampton, Bumrah has Bumrah claimed three wickets against Sri Lanka at Headingley in Leeds by giving away just 37 runs.

Ahead of the kick-off of India-New Zealand semi-final game, Richardson has effusively praised Bumrah while maintained India is in some prolific form.

“India is in tremendous form, especially their batting. People like Bumrah are top class performers,” NNIS Sports News quoted Richardson, as saying.

Since the beginning of the twelfth edition of the World Cup on May 30 at Kennington Oval in London, the teams had shown intent, but India altogether looked at a different pace after playing their first World Cup fixture on June 5 against South Africa in Southampton.
