Dhawan had sustained the injury on Sunday but went on to score a match-winning 117 against Australia. He had gone for a scan on Monday and the report revealed that he has a fracture. Shikhar Dhawan will not be able to play at least 3 weeks.
The injury comes at a crucial time as Dhawan recently slammed a century against Australia in Men in Blue’s 2nd match of the tournament. Dhawan will not be featuring in the next match of the ICC World Cup 2019 against New Zealand on June 11 (Thursday).
Currently, the injured India opener Shikhar Dhawan will be under observation as he strives to recover from a thumb fracture he picked up during the Australia game. Meanwhile, KL Rahul will be opening the innings for India while one between Dinesh Karthik or Vijay Shankar gets the nod at number 4.
