Perhaps, there could be no other cricketer at present, who is as lucky as Vijay Shankar. However, the talent has always been there. Shedding a light on his timeline, Vijay Shankar was nowhere near the world cup team when he is playing for his state in the domestic circuit.
All of a sudden, he received a call-up from the National team when Hardik Pandya was banned due to sexist remarks in a talk show. Later, his brilliant show in Australia and New Zealand helped him to outsmart poor-performing Ambati Rayudu to grab a place in the World Cup squad.
Well, that wasn’t the end of his luck. The flamboyant opener Shikhar Dhawan was injured, which made him get his debut in the World Cup game. Later, Bhuvneshwar Kumar walked off the field with an injury concern, which got him the ball in his hand and guesses what, he delivered it right in his first delivery.
Important to adapt quickly – Vijay Shankar
Meanwhile, Indian pace-bowling all-rounder Vijay Shankar said that the confidence in his ability to adapt helped him get over his surprise at being asked to bowl earlier than he expected in their Cricket World Cup victory over Pakistan on Sunday.

“Coming on to bowl so early was a surprise for me,” said Shankar, who also took the wicket of Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed. I am someone as a cricketer who feels it’s very important to be able to adapt quickly to the situation.”
I tried to enjoy each moment –
Further, Vijay Shankar added that he would like to improve every department of his game to make things fall in place for the team. The all-rounder feels it was a great opportunity to make his world cup debut against a team like Pakistan.

“It’s important to improve all aspects of my game so when the situation comes along, I will be ready. And, I have to be flexible in my role, batting and bowling,” he added. “I just think it was a great opportunity to make my World Cup debut against Pakistan when there would be so many people watching the game. I tried to enjoy each moment.”
All in all, it was a massive moment for the Indian all-rounder on the other night. He would be continuing in the same role for the team in the upcoming few games as well until Shikhar Dhawan gets his finger right.
