England ODI opener Jason Roy has received a massive injury scare of the 2019 World Cup after getting retired hurt with a suspected hamstring injury while playing for Surrey against Essex in the ongoing Roya London One Day Cup.
There is no doubt that the timing of the injury will surely create some doubts in Jason Roy’s mind over his participation in the showpiece event. Hence he will need to manage his workload and come back fitter for the 2019 World Cup which will be played in England and Wales from 30th May.

In the news shared by Wisden, it is learnt that Roy has retired hurt and is unlikely to return to bat after sustaining the hamstring injury. Roy has been one of the most prolific run scorers for England in the white ball formats.
His exceptional starts have laid the foundation for big scores in the past. He is a sensational striker of the ball and has the ability to take the match away from his opposition within a few overs. The injury will definitely give a scare or two to Jason Roy and the English camp. Despite being the inventors of the game, England has never managed to win a World Cup.
Many critics and former cricketers have predicted that this is England’s biggest chance to win the tournament especially given the team they possess for the quadrennial event. They are currently the No 1 ODI team in the world and will go into World Cup as one of the outright favourites. The home advantage will also come in handy for England.

Barring England, India will be another contenders for the tournament. Australia who looked done and dusted a few months ago have also come back in contention after winning away series against India and Pakistan. The return of Steve Smith and David Warner will also provide the much needed stability to Australia.
