Surely, it would be a tough pill to swallow for the Kiwis team, who fought their heart out against England side in England conditions. In particular, the all-rounder Jimmy Neesham would have been disappointed the most after being on the wrong side despite giving his best to the team.

On Sunday, the scores were levelled twice in the game — one after the allotted 100 overs and the other after the Super Over at the iconic Lord’s. In the end, it was the superior boundary count which saw England have their hands on the coveted trophy for the very first time.

The first-ever Super Over in a World Cup final saw England score 15 runs before the Kiwis also ended on 15. England were crowned new ODI champions after they finished with more boundaries than New Zealand.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, who was named man-of-the-series, said his men were shattered but admitted that it wasn’t only about the one extra run at the end. Particularly, Jimmy Neesham was left shattered after their narrow defeat in a nerve-wracking final of the 2019 World Cup at the hands of England.

Die at 60 really fat and happy – Jimmy Neesham

Kiwi all-rounder James Neesham took to Twitter to express his grief. In a series of tweets, he exhibited his feelings towards the final moment of the game. He also asked kids to try baking and eat something and end life on 60 peacefully.

”That hurts. Hopefully, there’s a day or two over the next decade where I don’t think about that last half hour. Congratulations, England. Well-Deserved. Thank you to all the supporters that came out today. We could hear you the whole way. Sorry, we couldn’t deliver what you so badly wanted.”

”Kids, don’t take up sport. Take up baking or something. Die at 60 really fat and happy.”

Barring the loss, Jimmy had a fantastic day on the field, both with the bat and the ball. He scored 19 runs off 25 balls in New Zealand’s inning, while picked up 3 wickets in his 7 overs in the second half of the match. Even in super over, Jimmy Neesham did his best for the team.
