ICC World Cup 2019: Kevin Pietersen Picks One Player from Other Team to Strengthen England

The former England skipper, Kevin Pietersen believes that there is no comparison between Eoin Morgan and Virat Kohli. While England is mounting up the scores chart against South Africa, Pieterson thinks India as the strongest contenders.

England is the tournament favourite and will be heading for their opening clash to set the tone for the mega-tournament. And Pietersen believes Eoin Morgan is one fine skipper of England, having led them to most ODI wins till now.

When asked which player from another country he would select to improve England’s line-up, Pietersen instantly replied:

Kevin Pietersen told Omnisport, “Virat. He’s a game-changer. He’s by far the best player on this planet.”

And it was just not him, Proteas’ great all-rounder Jacques Kallis also praised the Indian skipper and top-ranked ODI batsman, Virat Kohli. Kohli has been a consistent batsman in the world.

“I think he is the best batter in the world at the moment is Virat Kohli,” Jacques Kallis added.

Adding further to his statement, Kallis said that if Kohli works in the World Cup, then India definitely will do good as well. Kohli has been instrumental in the success of the team and he is going to hold the key.

“If he has a good World Cup, obviously India will do well. He’ll be the one people want to get out and identify as a major player for them.”

Both Kallis and Pietersen have named England, India and Australia as the top three that are likely to make it to the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Pietersen reckons West Indies will be the dark horse performers who are likely to end up as the fourth side in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, India will begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa at Southampton on June 5. On the other hand, England has tightened their grip in the first match against the Proteas as they have scalped five wickets. South Africa is chasing 312 runs in the first match of the World Cup.
