The Indian National Cricket Team took a major blow in the form of Shikhar Dhawan, who has been ruled out of the tournament. He would take at least 3 weeks of time to pick his willow again for the team. Meanwhile, Kevin Pietersen wants Rishabh Pant to get the nod without any further debates.
Shikhar Dhawan suffered a thumb injury during the game against Australia. Though he carried on to bat and smash a century for the team, he failed to take the field for the team. The scans on the finger revealed that he needs at least three weeks to get back to the normal.
Bring Rishabh Pant on the plane ASAP – Kevin Pietersen
This comes as a major blow for the team, as he is in a fine form and always a go-to batsman for the Indian team in the ICC events. The timing of the injury could really hurt the team, as he is fresh from scoring a brilliant century.
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is yet to reveal the replacement for the player. Suggesting for the same, Kevin Pietersen asked the board to bring in Rishabh Pant as quickly as possible.
Further, he went on to add asking KL Rahul, who is the new number 4 batsman to move up the order and put Rishabh Pant at number 4 position.
Shikha OUT the World Cup.
Get Pant on the plane ASAP.
KL Rahul to open and Pant at number 4…
— Kevin Pietersen🦏 (@KP24) June 11, 2019
With KL Rahul in the squad, India got the third opener. But, this would make the management search for the number 4 batsman once again. Most Probably, KL Rahul would open the innings while Vijay Shankar would bat at the number 4 position.
Well, if the Indan team considers a replacement, it would be one between Ambati Rayudu or Rishabh Pant. If KL Rahul gets the opening slot, one between Rayudu or Pant will be drafted into the squad for the middle-order position.
