ICC World Cup 2019: Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo Among The 10 Members In Windies’ Reserve List
It seems like Windies Cricket Board is trying to make their side as strong as possible ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019. They have added a few big names in the reserve players list for the upcoming grand event. Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo are two among the 10 members in the chart.
Recently, there were reports that Kieron Pollard is likely to be included in the final 15-man squad to replace a player who got injured. However, there is no official confirmation yet and the experienced all-rounder has been named in the reserve squad.
Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard had a good stint in IPL 2019:
The hard-hitting batsman has been brilliant for the team whenever he did Windies Jersey. He got the special skills to change the complexion of the game with ease with his blistering striking. Apart from his batting, Pollard can be a useful bowler and also a brilliant fielder for the team.
On the other hand, Dwayne Bravo has been brilliant for the team over the years. If not those conflicts between him and the board, Bravo would have ended up being the best all-rounders from Windies team. It is surprising to see his name, as he already announced his retirement.
Apart from Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard, there are other youngsters like Sunil Ambris, John Campbell, who did reasonably well in the tri-series that involve Ireland and Bangladesh. The all-rounder Keemo Paul and Roston Chase are the others to be included in the side.
“The choice of players in the reserve list is to really cover our bases and ensure we have a good balance in the pool of players that can be selected if replacements are required. We think the skill set in this pool is strong with a good blend of experience and upcoming young players who can be ready to contribute when required,” said Windies Chairman of selectors, Robert Haynes on the reserve squad.
All in all, the reserve list looks pretty solid for the Windies team, which would help them cover the bases when it required the most. The current Windies team can surprise one and all with the firepower they got in their ranks.
