Injury to Shikhar Dhawan has once again opened the problems for the Indian National Cricket Team at number 4. Though they were satisfied with Vijay Shankar ahead of the tournament, a couple of failures on a trot has once again made him be on the headlines. In one of those, Krishnamachari Srikkanth asks Rishabh Pant to play at number 4.
Rishabh Pant has kept the Indian selectors under the pump with his swashbuckling knocks in the Indian Premier League 2019. Pant showed that he can deliver the goods under pressure for the team, which was one of the criteria for Pant, who missed out the World Cup selection initially.
However, the stars aligned for him, who has received the call-up to replace Shikhar Dhawan in the side. Now, the failures of Vijay Shankar might see the stylish southpaw getting the nod for the clash against England.

Rishabh Pant is ready to go – Krishnamachari Srikkanth
Speaking of the same, Krishnamachari Srikkanth quoted that he would consider someone like Rishabh Pant if he was involved in the team selection panel. He feels that Rishabh Pant can understand the conditions of England, as he played previously as well.
Further, he went on to add highlighting Rishabh Pant’s sensational tallies in the Test series against England. Srikkanth firmly believes that Pant deserves a chance to bat at number 4.
“If I was involved with the team management, I think I would consider putting a guy like Rishabh Pant in at No.4. They have brought him over here now, he is ready to go and, most importantly, he has played in England before so understands the conditions,” Krishnamachari Srikkanth wrote.

“We saw him impress in the Test series here last summer when he came into the side and with England up next, maybe now is a good time to get him in there against a familiar opponent. In the middle order, Vijay Shankar and Kedar Jadhav have yet to really convince. I think it’s fair to say that their approach needs some fine-tuning.”
Well, it would be interesting to see how things would turn out for the youngster. Most probably, India would give him a chance in the game against England unless the management relies their trust on Vijay Shankar.
