ICC World Cup 2019: Mark Wood Might Get The Nod For Pakistan Clash

The problem of Pakistan team to face the bouncers of Windies bowlers would help Mark Wood to get a game against the same team in their 2nd hurdle. The England management is thinking to bring Mark Wood into the mix in order to bounce out Pakistan team in their second clash.
Over the years, the venue which will be used for the game between England and Pakistan is always tagged as the batsmen paradise. A lot of high-scoring games took place at the venue with the hosts England crossing the 400-run mark twice in the ODI format of the game.
Mark Wood name would be discussed:
The poor show from the Pakistan batsmen to the bouncers of Windies bowlers is making the head coach bring Mark Wood back into the plans. He revealed that Mark Wood got a decent pace and can bounce out the opposition on his day.
“We’re aware of what went on yesterday,” England assistant coach Graham Thorpe said on Saturday. “It was interesting viewing. The West Indies bowled very well. They looked like they roughed Pakistan up,” the former England batsman added. “I think it (drafting Wood) will be discussed, to be honest.”
500 on cards?
Speaking of the 500-run tally, the coach quoted that the England team has got the batsmen to achieve that. However, he doesn’t want to make any statements yet but he quoted that anything can possible if the batsmen get their feet going on that particular day.
“It’s the same thing coming here against Pakistan. If we get into a good position, we’ll try to score as many as we can. But at the same time, if it doesn’t happen, you’ve got to put a competitive score on the board. To put the opposition under pressure,” he added.
Well, it would be interesting to see whether Mark Wood gets the nod or not. However, one would see England bowlers delivering those sharp bouncers to Pakistan batsmen during the course of the game. The first thing in the practice session for Pakistan would be to tackle those bouncer drills.
