ICC World Cup 2019: Match 22, India vs Pakistan– Match Prediction

India and Pakistan are set to face on Sunday at Old Trafford, Manchester. Both the teams are eyeing to win this crucial game. The hype surrounding the match is at an all time high.

However, India hold a clear advantage over Pakistan in ODI World Cup matches. The Men in Blue won all the six meetings between the two sides in World Cup. But this is a completely new day with different teams.

So, Pakistan will hope to register their first win against India and write a new chapter in this epic rivalry. On the other hand, both teams had different results so far in this ongoing world cup.

India have been dominant since the start of their campaign. The team had won against South Africa and Australia comfortably in their first two matches. However, their game against New Zealand was washed out due to rain.

However, the biggest concern for India is the injury of Shikhar Dhawan. The southpaw suffered a thumb injury while facing a bouncer from Pat Cummins last Sunday. In his absence, KL Rahul will be the opening partner for Rohit Sharma.

Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik or Vijay Shankar will be called in to fill the void in middle order. On the other hand, Pakistan had a mixed world cup so far.

The reigning Champions Trophy winners could not establish their authority in this world cup so far. They had lost badly against West Indies in their opening game. But they eventually turned up against hosts England.

Although, they were not given much chance by experts against England, Pakistan beat the title favorites easily. Their third match against Sri Lanka was abandoned due to rain. But they once again ended up with defeat against Australia on Wednesday.

Match Prediction

India are very strong across all three departments. However, the unavailability of Shikhar Dhawan will create a huge void in Indian batting lineup. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli needs to take more responsibility in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan.

However, their middle order will look interesting against Pakistan. With Rahul pushed up the order, the middle order in Indian batting lineup could be in for a massive shuffle. The bowlers are also fine form as they had proved it against South Africa and Australia.

Pakistan’s biggest weakness in this world cup is their batting form. The form of their top order remains the biggest concern for Pakistan. Although, one of the players is getting start, the others are failing so far. This has been the story of their world cup.

Also, the middle order is very inconsistent. Apart from the game against England, in the other two matches against West Indies and Australia, it is their batting that lead to defeat.

Although, Pakistan are a dangerous side in this format, India should be able to ward off the pressure and make it 7-0 in ODI World Cup games against Pakistan.
