ICC World Cup 2019: Mohammad Hafeez Qualifies Yo-Yo Test, Imad Wasim, Abid Ali Fail
Of late, yo-Yo is making the headlines more often than not. Various teams in the world are following various benchmarks to clear the Yo-Yo test in order to prove their fitness for the International matches. Regarding the same, Pakistan conducted a yo-yo test, in which, Mohammad Hafeez passed with flying colours.
They recently conducted yo-yo test for the 23 probable players to be picked in the ICC World Cup 2019 squad. Though they confirmed that they conducted the yo-yo test, they hesitated to reveal the scores of the players.
Meanwhile, an insider in the Pakistan cricket quoted to PTI that the youngsters like Imad Wasim and Abid Ali failed to clear the Test while the senior batsman Mohammad Hafeez passed the Test, which makes him eligible for the selection in the tournament.
Imad Wasim is hampered by a knee problem:
The all-rounder Imad Wasim has recently suffered Knee problem, from which, he is yet to recover. For the same, he is undergoing the rehab process in the National Cricket Academy under the expert’s supervision. Meanwhile, the in-form batsman Abid Ali failed to cross the line.
“Imad is hampered by a knee problem which has flared up again. He is undergoing rehab at the NCA. Meanwhile Abid failed the test,” the insider said.
Surprisingly, the selectors haven’t called either Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad nor left-arm fast bowler Wahab Riaz for the tests despite their impressive performances in the just concluded Pakistan Cup national one-day tournament in Rawalpindi.
Speaking of the same, Wahab Riaz quoted that he is pretty much disappointed for not being invited to the yo-yo test. He is not even in the contention for the spot despite being the hero of Pakistan in ICC World Cup 2015.
“It is very disappointing for me. To not be considered for the World Cup in which I have always come up with good performances. But I can only do my best and hope for the best,” Wahab said.
Well, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for Pakistan. The yo-yo test clear is a good sign for Hafeez to get the nod for ICC World Cup 2019. In between, Imad Wasim needs to get the fitness as quickly as possible, as he can bring a lot to the table for Pakistan.
