On Sunday, everything went in favour of the Indian team against Pakistan apart from the injury of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He has been officially ruled out for the next couple of games in the ICC World Cup 2019 for India. Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar backs Mohammed Shami to do the job for the team.
During the game against Pakistan on Sunday, the right-handed swing master Bhuvneshwar Kumar has pulled up his Hamstring after landing in one of the potholes near the crease. He was immediately taken off the field and was attended by the Indian physio Patrick Farhat in the dressing room.
So far in the tournament, India has opted to play two full-time fast bowlers in the form of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar but with the latter ruled out of the next couple of games due to injury, there are high chances of Shami to be included in the side against Afghanistan.
Mohammed Shami is a dangerous customer – Sachin Tendulkar
Speaking of Mohammed Sham, Sachin Tendulkar expressed his belief saying that Shami would deliver the goods for the team. He quoted that Shami is more powerful and sharp with his bowling, which would certainly make him a dangerous customer for the opposition.
He went on to shower words of praise on the fast bowler for his tremendous rise in the game of cricket. Further, Sachin Tendulkar feels that injury to Bhuvneshwar Kumar is a blessing in disguise, as it would give game time to talented Mohammed Shami.
“He is sharper than you think and I really like his approach to the stumps. He has got beautiful run-up. I think, if Mohammed Shami plays the next game, he is a danger customer upfront. He has the potential to provide breakthroughs,” Sachin Tendulkar said to India Today.
”I know it wasn’t good to lose Shikhar but that has given KL Rahul an opportunity to go out and get some runs. Similarly, the Indian team would want to protect Bhuvneshwar so that he is part of the tournament at an important stage. This is going to give Shami some match practice and come back to form.,” he added.
Well, hopefully, Mohammed Shami would deliver the goods for the team. His partnership with Jasprit Bumrah is going to be vital for the team during the course of the tournament.
