India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma believes the former skipper MS Dhoni will play a key role in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. Dhoni has all the experience under his belt and his expertise is going to be imperative for India’s World Cup success. Dhoni is a master in keeping calm in the tensed situations and he will like to bring his best to the table.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni was not in the best of forms in 2018 as he was struggling to rotate strike at regular intervals. However, in 2019, Dhoni has been able to turn the tables in his favour. The talisman batsman had scored three fifties on the tour of Australia and he was also awarded the Man of the series.
MS Dhoni is going to hold the key.
“MS [Dhoni] has years of experience. He has handled the team for so long and brought success to the team. So his role is quite important. Not just a player or batsman but as an individual too. His suggestions and thought process reflect upon a lot of the team players. He tries to help out all the players,” Rohit told India Today.
Furthermore, MS Dhoni is in fine form in the ongoing season of the IPL 2019. Dhoni has amassed 314 runs at a stunning average of 104.67. Thus, Dhoni’s form is going to be a big advantage in the World Cup.
On the other hand, Dhoni is brilliant from the tactical point of view. In fact, Dhoni is always two steps ahead of the opposition. The veteran batsman also helps Virat Kohli in setting up the field and gives his insights into the bowling changes. Moreover, the former skipper gives his tips to Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal which has helped them savour success in the recent past.
Rohit added, “When he is wicket-keeping too, he keeps telling Kuldeep (Yadav) and Chahal about the pitch and what to bowl. All these things matter a lot.”
MS Dhoni has all the experience under his belt and he is going to be the guiding light for the Indian team in the World Cup. Dhoni knows how he should get the best out of the players and he would like to deliver the goods once again.
India will begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa at Southampton on 5th June.
