ICC World Cup 2019: Pakistan Crestfallen Fans Call Sarfraz Ahmed ‘Mota’ in Manchester
Not long ago, Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has hailed the well-mannered approach of fans who according to him, have had maintained integrity. At the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019, Sarfraz, who claimed that his country’s fans are well-versed after fans from India jeered Steven Smith and David Warner on June 9, had himself faced the wrath from dejected Pakistan fans.
“I don’t think Pakistani people will do that. Pakistani people love cricket, they love to support and they love the players.” Sarfraz told to reporters in Taunton.
Earlier, the Men in Blue skipper Virat Kohli intervened when the crowd booed Smith, in particular. Kohli gesticulated fans to applaud Smith. However, Sarfraz on the eve of Australia’s game on June 11 maintained the duo wouldn’t face any hostility whatsoever against Pakistan at the County Ground in Taunton.
But following an 89-run loss owing to the Duckworth Lewis (DLS) method, enraged Pakistan fans had not only criticised skipper but went on to abuse middle-order batsman for a depleted show against their arch-rivals India.
Interestingly, Pakistan players have had also faced severe criticism for the timid approach. The fans have criticised some of the players, including Sarfraz for their poor fitness.
Angry fans lash out at Sarfraz Ahmed:
As soon as rain-truncated game culminated, Sarfraz, who made an entry on the ground was slammed by crestfallen fans.
The fans have also shouted at the top of their voice. One of the fans, angrily asked: ‘why you’ve had opted to the ball first’. Also, one of the fans while referring to Sarfraz maintained he didn’t even pay heed to the Prime of Pakistan, Imran Khan, who had suggested Pakistan only to bat first.
While making most of the opportunity, Rohit Sharma slammed a sparkling 113-ball 140. Besides, impressive fifties from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul respectively pile up miseries for Pakistan. Thus, it eventually helped India to post 336 for five in 50 overs.
In response, Pakistan looked meek in approach. Despite crucial 104-run stand for the second-wicket between Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam, the Men in Green looked a pale shadow. Struggling Pakistan managed 212 in 40 overs with a revised target of 302 due to a rain delay.
In the latest video, the fans have called Sarfraz ‘Mota’ which roughly mean ‘fat’ – to vent out their frustration. Although, Sarfraz has heard fans castigating him; however, he didn’t utter a word before having a word with the team’s head coach, Mickey Arthur.
