Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has thrown his support behind New Zealand following Three Lions’ loss against Australia by 64 runs at Lord’s on Tuesday (June 25). Meanwhile, Vaughan is backing the Black Caps for a cause. Well, after a couple of losses jolted England at the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019, Vaughan wants Kiwis to win – to help England’s World Cup road.
Following their loss against Sri Lanka by 20 runs, the teams standing in the bottom half of the points table had got an opportunity to make progress in the top four. Also, it has further jeopardised England’s position as they slid to the fourth position in World Cup standings.
Soon after the loss at the hands of Australia at Lord’s, England witnessed three losses in seven matches. So far, they have lost against Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Aaron Finch-led Australia at the twelfth edition of the World Cup.

Recently, the Ashes-winning skipper, Vaughan took to his Twitter handle and tweeted he’s, ‘a Kiwi for the day’.
“I am a Kiwi for the day…. #CWC19,” Tweets Vaughan ahead of Pakistan-New Zealand clash.
On the other side, England is followed by Bangladesh with seven points in as many matches. Sri Lanka has accumulated six points in as many games, whereas Pakistan, has five points in six fixtures so far.
The Windies are sitting at the eighth spot with three points in six contests. Also, South Africa and Afghanistan had already crashed out of the tournament. However, both teams have to play two league stage matches each.
Well, talking at Birmingham’s contest between Pakistan and New Zealand, it will be exciting beyond Kiwis and Pakistan fans. If the Kiwis win, they will be the second team to qualify for the semi-finals. Thus, they can collect 13 points in seven matches.
So, if Pakistan will end up beating the Black Caps, they will end up either fifth or sixth on the team standings which is subjected to their net run-rate. This somewhat means an indication of threat for England’s semi-final hopes.
Sarfraz Ahmed-led side will take on Kane Williamson’s unbeaten team at Edgbaston on Wednesday (June 26) to face the litmus test.
