What a sensational day it was for the New Zealand side? They have stunned the best team in the world with their brilliant cricketing skills to go into the final of the tournament. Meanwhile, Kane Williamson lauds the exceptional performance of the fast bowlers, who did it for the team.
The skipper has delivered one of the best knocks under pressure when the Indian fast bowlers showed their determination on the field. He was accompanied by Ross Taylor, who batted like a warrior for the team. However, in the end, it was the bowling section, who did the job for the team.
Speaking of the victory, Kane Williamson quoted that the bowlers have been pretty pleasing for the side. The skipper termed that it was more of the conditions, which made the contest so thrilling. He expressed his hope that their bowlers can get better off conditions.
”Have a really good bunch of guys. A tough game, tough semifinal and really pleased to be on the right side of things. It was really tough. We had to assess conditions quickly and I think both sides felt that it wasn’t a high-scoring track. We thought that 240-250 will help us to put India under pressure. The guys were able to do that in the middle and at the back end without going too hard. Lot of it was on the conditions, with the rain around yesterday and whether it changed the conditions.”
Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni would have won it – Kane Williamson
Further, Kane Williamson quoted that the team has shown their best character on the field and delivered the goods. He felt that Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni were cruising for a victory but lauded the effort of the bowlers to seal it for the team.
”With the new ball, our bowlers try to move the ball off the seam or in the air. Need to put pressure on that world class batting line-up of India. We knew that when the track slowed down, we had to squeeze. They showed why they are a world class side when they took it really deep to a position where they could have won it through MS and Jadeja. Our character was tested and we came out on top,” he added.
Game of small margins:
As Virat Kohli said, Kane Williamson quoted that the game of cricket is all about small margins. Further, he went on to hail the effort of the Indian fans for the tight contest.
”We’ve seen conditions be really tricky at times and in some games, we didn’t play our best cricket but guys weren’t disheartened and backed ourselves. On a particular day, anything can happen and it was a game of small margins. Pleased to come across the line. Indian supporters have been really good.,” he concluded.
All in all, Kane Williamson-led side had made a tremendous comeback. They reached the finals of the tournament for the second time in a row and would like to seal the cup this time.
