ICC World Cup 2019: Sachin Tendulkar Picks Bhuvneshwar Kumar Ahead Of Mohammed Shami

Ahead of the clash against Windies, the Indian National Cricket Team has got a selection headache in their fast bowling department. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar returning to net sessions, the place for the second fast bowler alongside Jasprit Bumrah is a major headache for the team. Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar expressed his opinion.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been brilliant for the team in the initial few games of the tournament. He gave India much-needed breakthroughs when it mattered the most, especially, under pressure. On the other hand, Mohammed Shami, who replaced Kumar has delivered the goods as well.
In fact, Shami delivered a match-winning performance for the team. He bagged a hat-trick against Afghanistan to help India bag yet another victory and especially, saved the pride by not losing against the lower-ranked team.
I would go with Bhuvneshwar Kumar – Sachin Tendulkar
Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar picked Bhuvneshwar Kumar ahead of Mohammed Shami. He believes that Kumar is the first-preferred choice in the playing XI. Sachin Tendulkar feels that is harsh on Shami but he wants someone to move the ball up front, especially, against Chris Gayle.
“I feel sorry for Shami but I would pick Bhuvneshvar Kumar because he was the first choice seamer coming into the tournament. So, if he is fit, I would go with him,” Tendulkar was quoted by saying to the International Business Times.
“I would pick Bhuvneshwar, especially against West Indies because Chris Gayle, I feel you need someone to take the ball away from him and Bhuvneshwar is better at that,” Tendulkar added.
There was, however, no official word from the Indian team management on whether Bhuvneshwar was available for selection for the West Indies match on Thursday.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar had sustained an injury during India’s victory over Pakistan. Now, he turned up at an indoor net session two days before the game against West Indies. India is currently No.3 in the World Cup 2019 points table with 9 points from 5 matches.
