Of late, Sarfaraz Ahmed has been the often headliner in the cricketing world for quite a few reasons. The flamboyant skipper of Pakistan has faced criticism for quite a few reasons ever since he lost the game to Indian National Cricket Team. Now, he replied to the trollers for being abusive and involving families into this.
Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed on Sunday gave a witty reply to social media trolls who humiliated him over the yawning incident during the team’s crucial tie against India on June 16 in Southampton.
Sarfaraz was trolled on every available social-media platform following Pakistan’s seventh straight World Cup defeat against their arch-rivals.
Players have their personal lives – Sarfaraz Ahmed
Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has urged the cricket fans back home to refrain from abusing players but maintained they have every right to criticise the team.
Stressing that abusive reactions hurt the players and their families psychologically, Sarfaraz Ahmed said Pakistan fans are emotional about the game but the players also feel the pressure when representing the country at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
“Players have their personal lives,” Sarfaraz urged. “Whatever they (the public) think, they write it on social media. That hurts, too much. Players are affected psychologically. Such things should not happen.”
“I know you cannot stop anyone,” said Sarfaraz continued. “Our fans are emotional and these same people lift us when we win. But if they feel sad on a defeat we also feel the same way. We feel it much more because we are playing for Pakistan.”
Pakistan is reeling at the 9th spot with just 3 points from 5 matches but Sri Lanka’s win over England on Friday has added spice to the tournament, giving teams at the bottom half of the points table a glimmer of hope.
In their next assignment, they will take on South Africa on Sunday. In order to stay in the hunt, Pakistan needs to win every game on their way from South Africa game.
