ICC World Cup 2019: Shikhar Dhawan Likely To Be Fit For England Clash
Well, there comes good news for the Indian cricket team fans. The stylish southpaw Shikhar Dhawan, who is currently away from the playing XI for the next few games would be ready for the clash against the hosts England at the end of this month.
Shikhar Dhawan has been kept under observation for now with Team India physio Patrick Farhart working overtime to make sure that the batsman recovers quickly and in time to rejoin the Indian campaign in this World Cup.
The BCCI has asked Rishabh Pant to join the team as cover for Dhawan in England but no official request for a replacement has been made to the ICC.
Shikhar Dhawan recovering well:
Pant will be joining the team on Wednesday and will start training with the squad straight away. The management wants Pant to be match ready if at all they need his services in the tournament.
But, it seems like there is no such requirement of Rishabh Pant in the team. The opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan, who smashed a century with pain set to make a comeback to the team. The reports from the doctors to the team management are positive, which would put Rishabh Pant waiting.
According to a report in ESPNCricinfo, Dhawan had travelled to Leeds to consult specialists, where the fracture was ascertained.
Earlier, a BCCI source told PTI that Dhawan has sustained a fracture and it might take a month for him to fully recover. The World Cup, which started May 30, ends on July 14. India Today reported that he was out of the World Cup for three weeks due to the injury.
However, the latest reports come as a sooting aspect for the Indian National Cricket Team. A lot of chances of the Indian team depends on the top three batsmen. With the reports being positive, the Indian team management would take a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul will open the innings in absence of Shikhar Dhawan. But, this would make the management search for the number 4 batsman once again. Most Probably, Vijay Shankar would bat at the number 4 position unless the team goes for the experienced Dinesh Karthik.
