ICC World Cup 2019: Shikhar Dhawan Positive Despite Racing Against The Time
The stylish southpaw Shikhar Dhawan is upbeat despite being on the wrong side of things. The flamboyant batsman suffered a thumb injury, which ruled him out for the next few clashes in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. Meanwhile, a cover was also called in for the left-handed batsman.
Despite all the media headlines, the stylish southpaw, in his usual self, comes up with a positive tweet on his social media panel. Shikhar Dhawan posted a meaningful message on his Twitter panel amidst the concerns on his availability for the remainder of the tournament.
The injury to Shikhar Dhawan came at a wrong time for the Indian National Cricket Team. Now, they have got big shoes to fill, as the new opener needs to adjust with the conditions and get along with Rohit Sharma in running between the wickets and a few other areas. The possible option for the team is KL Rahul.
Shikhar Dhawan will be under observation:
Dhawan had sustained the injury on Sunday but went on to score a match-winning 117 against Australia. He had gone for a scan on Monday and the report revealed that he has a fracture. Shikhar Dhawan will not be able to play at least 3 weeks.
The injury comes at a crucial time as Dhawan recently slammed a century against Australia in Men in Blue’s 2nd match of the tournament. Dhawan will not be featuring in the next match of the ICC World Cup 2019 against New Zealand on June 11 (Thursday).
Surely, this would be a big blow for the Indian team. A lot of chances of the Indian team depends on the top three batsmen. With Shikhar Dhawan being ruled out, the burden will be on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to look after the runs in the upcoming games.
