After Australia, England and the Indian National Cricket Team announcing their squads, now, it is the turn of Sri Lanka, who announced their 15-man squad for the ICC World Cup 2019. Surprisingly, the stylish southpaw Dimuth Karunatne will be leading the side in the tournament.
Much like every other team, Sri Lanka also brought a lot of interesting changes to their side. They left out a few surprising names from the chart and added a few players, who performed in the domestic tournament.
The left-handed opening batsman, who got a lot of patience with the bat, Dimuth Karunaratne got the call-up to open the innings alongside Avishka Fernando. And also, the surprising return is Lahiru Thirimanne, who will replace the experienced Upul Tharanga in the team.

Angelo Mathews, Jeevan Mendis makes a return:
Then it is two Kusal’s, who found the place in the Dimuth Karunaratne-led side. Kusal Perera, who recovered from injury gets the nod alongside the talented Kusal Mendis. They were followed by Angelo Mathews, who recently scored a century in the local 50-over tournament.
They relied their trust on the talented youngster Dananjaya de Silva, who got the required goods to deliver. He is followed by the all-rounder, Thisara Perera, who will bring a lot to the table. He will be supported by Isuru Udana, who developed fantastic batting skills alongside his bowling tactics.

The surprising aspect of the selection is the spin department. They named M Siriwardene ahead of Akila Dananjaya, who was their star performer in the previous year. Another spinner in the side is Jaffrey Vandersay, who will bring variety to their side.
And also, the all-rounder Jeevan Mendis also got the nod after a successful work in the domestic tournament. The pace battery is a major surprise. They brought Nuwan Pradeep ahead of Kasun Rajitha while Suranga Lakmal and Lasith Malinga will take care of the rest of the slots.
