The Twitter users have criticised newly-released away jersey for Team India for England tie at Edgbaston in Birmingham on June 30 during their seventh match of the ICC World Cup 2019. However, the mixed reaction also saw Twitter world praising Nike, which sponsors Men in Jersey for vibrant colours.
On Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has unveiled the new away jersey. Also, the players, including skipper Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya, in particular, partook in the photoshoot event while donning the orange jersey.
Besides, BCCI posted a caption with the photograph of a new jersey.
“Presenting #TeamIndia’s Away Jersey What do you make of this one guys? #TeamIndia #CWC19.”
On the eve of Englan game, Team India players were delighted to wear the new jersey. However, the micro-blogging site Twitter users had made fun of the jersey.
Ahead of the kick-off of the World Cup 2019, the world governing cricket body International Cricket Council (ICC) has followed the footsteps of the football world by introducing away jerseys in the ODI showpiece.
According to the ICC’s rule, it states that home teams have the luxury to don their regular jersey. However, it adds, the team playing an away game has to wear the different jersey.
“For televised ICC events all participating teams will be required to provide for two different coloured kits, except for the host country who has a preference in the choice of colour and may, if it chooses to do so, provide only one coloured kit to be worn in all matches throughout the event. In advance of the event, the teams will be notified which coloured kit will be worn in each match,” ICC revealed in a release.
With India set to make it to the semi-finals of the twelfth edition of the World Cup, England, on the other hand, is facing a heat, as they have to win their remainder of the games against Men in Blue and Australia.
Concurrently, Team India sits second on the ICC World Cup standings with 11 points in six matches.
Moreover, the Three Lions are sitting at fourth position with eight points in seven games.
Who else is excited to see India donning new jersey within next 24 hours?
