Pakistan must be happy with the way they have played their game in the second half. After a dismal show against Windies, Pakistan further lost to India, Australia respectively.

The Men in Green had drawn flak for losing against arch-rivals India on June 16. However, Sarfraz Ahmed-led side had produced a brilliant show by winning the last four games on a trot.

They remained in the hunt until their last league game before being edged out by Kiwis based on strong net run-rate.

After finishing fifth on the points table, Pakistan had claimed $100,000. They had also bagged $200,000 for their winning percentage.

Australia – $1,080,000:

If you considered Australia’s performance of the last year, you would have had thought that Australia might not go deep in the tournament.

The Kangaroos had made a strong statement in 2019. In the league stage fixtures of the ICC World Cup 2019, Australia lost two matches to finish on the second spot.

Aaron Finch-led side had produced outstanding results with David Warner leading from the front. But they couldn’t do much in the semis were England had outclassed them in Manchester.

Also, the left-arm paceman Mitchell Starc is the leading wicket-taker of the twelfth edition of the World Cup.

In 27 matches, Starc had bagged two five-wicket hauls and as many four-wicket hauls.

One of the favourites for the World Cup had done exceedingly well in the league stage fixtures. From Rohit Sharma to Jasprit Bumrah, the members of the team had lived up to the billings to finish on the top of the points table.

Rohit who is the leading run-getter at the World Cup had slammed five tons with Kohli notching up five consecutive half-centuries.

Bumrah had bowled well by stemming the run flow, as Mohammed Shami had become second India to clinch a hat-trick at the World Cup. Bhuvneshwar had produced a good show despite pulling his hamstring.

Overall, the Men in Blue are satisfied with their show, but those 45-odd minutes in the semi-final had left players in distress, so as, fans. Kiwis bowlers had strangulated India’s top-order to end up winning the game by 18 runs despite courageous knock from Ravindra Jadeja.

MS Dhoni had played an anchor’s role, but Martin Guptill had enough to make a more a memorable moment for the Black Caps with an exceptional run-out.
