ICC World Cup 2019: Three Indian Players Who Can Be Game Changers
The Indian selectors have already set up the environment for the upcoming World Cup 2019. This Monday, 15th April, they announced the 15-man squad of team India. The big event is to start from 30th May and will be held in England and Wales. Team India will be led by Virat Kohli in the 50-over World Cup while Rohit will be his right-hand man.
The chief selector MSK Prasad ruled out Rishabh Pant along with Ambati Rayadu from the selected squad list. The head of the five-member selection panel reasoned 21-year-old Pant’s lack of experience over Dinesh Karthik. Karthik has played 91 ODIs in his career so far and will be playing as a second wicketkeeper in the World Cup after 12 years. Though he is expected to play in the matches when former skipper MS Dhoni will be on rest. It will be Dhoni’s fourth and expectedly last 50-over World Cup.
With it’s rejuvenated squad, India will start off their campaign on 5th of June against South Africa. This World Cup squad includes many match winners who could be the game changers for the team. The three of such game changers could be:
Three Game-Changing Players For Team India
Rohit has successfully secured his place in the team for the upcoming tournament and international events. He was called in place of injured Yuvraj Singh and eventually paved his way up in the team as an opener. Currently, he is among the top three batsmen in ODI format.
His consistency in the past few tournaments has made him an unbeatable opener for the national team. He has been an exemplary player in ODI cricket. Rohit has three double hundreds to his name, one of which he marked while playing the decider against Australia. In order to win, the bewitching opener will need to play the new ball with the success that happens to swing prodigiously in English conditions.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya has been in fine fine form in the on-going IPL season. The vivacious Baroda player has been doing great even under pressure, lifting the ball to the boundaries easily. Apart from being an excellent bowler, Pandya plays in the lower batting order in the IPL team Mumbai Indians. He even had the Sri Lankan bowler Malinga scared with his in-form batting.
Pandya has been the shining star as a finisher for the team and has impeccably improved his batting form. His improved batting style would be helpful in strengthening the lower order of the national team in the World Cup. Pandya will definitely make up for a good asset in the World Cup with his good over-all performance.
Jasprit Bumrah is going to be one of the most important bowlers for the team in the World Cup 2019. He has been destructive on the Australian soil, snapping 21 wickets in the maiden Test series held earlier this year. He has been lethal with his in-swinger, troubling the batsmen all over the world.
Bumrah’s performance in the death overs has proved of utmost importance for the Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s struggling performance in IPL, Bumrah will have to be in top form for the World Cup.
