We often boast regarding the winners of the World Cup while hailing the batsmen. But honestly, it takes whole team efforts to win a match. One can’t win a match solely having a few best batsmen by their side. The bowlers have the seemingly same effect to win games for their teams respectively. The varied bowling unit followed by sharp fielding helps the team mark their lead over the rival team.

So has been with the World Cup tournaments as well. Either teams who had won in the eleven seasons held so far almost had their bowling department performing excellently well — thus stating how the bowlers have played an enormous role in helping their teams lift the trophy.

Here are the top five of those bowlers who have had left an impact with their ruthless performance.

Top Five Wicket-Takers in the World Cup History:

Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath:

Both the legends of India have been the only ones to make it up to the top of the most wicket-taking list. They jointly are the fifth most wicket-takers in the world cup history with 44 wickets each in their pockets.

Zaheer Khan was the bolting light among the Indian attack during their victorious campaign of 2011. He was the joint lead wicket-taker in the tournament with 21 wickets to his name.

J. Srinath, now ICC match referee, was one of the fastest bowlers to have represented India. Zaheer shares the high position of fifth highest wicket-taker with this legend who picked the wickets at an average of 27.82 with a four-fer to his name.
