England skipper Eoin Morgan has made it to the record books by becoming fourth fastest at the World Cup – to slam quickfire ton. Also, Morgan has set a record of most sixes in ODIs to surpass Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Rohit Sharma, who slammed 16 sixes each. However, Morgan has blasted 17 sixes during his outrageous 71-ball 148-run knock against Afghanistan at the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 in Manchester on June 18.

The southpaw has also become fastest Englishman to slam a ton at the quadrennial event. Morgan, who got a reprieve early on, on the bowling of leg-spinner Rashid Khan, scored at an incredible average of 208.45 with the help of four boundaries too.

Eventually, the whirlwind knock of Morgan has also helped the Three Lions to set up the mammoth target of 398 for Afghanistan led by Gulbadin Naib.

Earlier, Morgan won the toss and opted to bat first. Also, England openers Jonny Bairstow alongside James Vince looked cautious in approach to post 44 in 9.3 overs.

Root played another sensible knock:

Vince has managed 31-ball 26 before perishing on the bowling of Dawlat Zadran. On the other side, Bairstow continued with his domination by scoring 99-ball 90.

Besides, another top-order batsman Joe Root played a spectacular knock while scoring 82-ball 88.

Jos Buttler alongside Ben Stokes managed a couple each before losing their wickets on the bowling of paceman Zadran.

At the fag end of innings, Moeen Ali has played a cameo off 31 while facing just nine deliveries. He has slammed four sixes and a solitary boundary.

On the other side, Chris Woakes faced a ball for a run.

For Afghanistan, star leg-spinner turned out to be most expensive as he conceded 110 runs in just nine overs. Meanwhile, Naib alongside Zadran have picked three wickets each.
