Bangladesh have registered their first World Cup win in 2019 against South Africa. The tigers dominated the game from the beginning. They were the rightful winners on the day.

Having won the toss, Faf du Plessis once again chose to field first. The Bangladesh openers began their innings on a fast note. Once Tamim and Soumya was dismissed, Shakib Al Hasan along with Mushfiqur Rahim came to rescue.

The duo stitched together a record 142 run partnership for the third wicket. This is the highest partnership for Bangladesh for any wicket in World Cup. On the other hand, South Africa bowlers really struggled to keep check of Bangladeshi batsmen.

Although, they managed to pick up both Shakib and Rahim towards the end, the damage was already done. Mahmadullah took the finishing responsibility. He scored a quick fire 46 runs from just 33 balls. This propelled Bangladesh to 330/6 in their 50 overs. Andile Phehlukwayo, Chris Morris and Imran Tahir took two wickets each.

Chasing 331 on a batting friendly wicket, South Africa opener Quinton de Kock was dismissed early. But Aiden Markram and Faf du Plessis played themselves in. Even then they lost wickets at crucial junctures.

David Miller, van der Russen, Duminy have all got starts. However, none of them managed to score a big hundred on the day. This leaves South Africa in a tough situation with India game coming up next.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh are constantly improving. This win shows how far they reached over the past three to four years. The tigers did exceptionally well during ICC Champions Trophy 2017 by reaching semifinals.

If they can work as a unit together, then there is a good chance that they could bag few wins and fancy their chances for knockout stages.
