On Thursday (June 27) against the Windies, he became the first-ever batsman to amass 20,000 or more international runs in 414 innings. In the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019, Virat Kohli has made his presence felt with his defiant attitude.

The right-handed batsman Kohli has achieved the milestone during the seventh over of India’s innings. On the fourth delivery of Jason Holder, Kohli played a shot on the on side region before scampering for a single to achieve the landmark.

The fluent stroke-maker Kohli has played some remarkable shots before reaching 37 off 46 deliveries. Before the 34th game of India-Windies, Kohli managed 20,963 in 413 innings.

The 30-year-old majestic batsman Kohli, who made his international debut in 2008 against Sri Lanka didn’t look back from there on. The stylish cricketer went on to achieve multiple records under his belt to become the world’s greatest modern-day batsman.

Since 2011, Kohli has amassed 6,613 runs in 77 Tests which is further comprised of 131 innings. Also, he has featured in 231 ODIs to accumulate 1187 runs in 223 innings.

Also, the prominent star has featured in 62 innings of 67 T20I since 2010. He has recorded 2263 runs at an average of 50.3.

Kohli, who is regarded as a technically sound batsman, has already brought top-notch bowlers to its knees. While going by his remarkable consistency, Kohli has already notched-up 41 ODI tons. Now, he is eight short of equaling his idol, Sachin Tendulkar.

Earlier, the record was jointly-held by legendary Tendulkar and Brian Lara. The veteran cricketers achieved the milestone in 453 international innings during their heydays.

Besides, former Australian skipper, Ricky Ponting is also on the list. The classic right-handed batsman has achieved the feat in 464 innings.

Also, South African modern-day great AB de Villiers has achieved the feat in 483 innings, whereas Rahul Dravid consumed 492 innings to scale the 20,000 international runs.
