Yet again, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli is standing on verge of breaking a massive record in the International Cricket. He needs 37 runs to enter the club of 20,000 runs in International Cricket. Recently, he became the quickest cricketer to reach 11,000 ODI runs by beating his compatriot Sachin Tendulkar.

If Kohli, who has 19,963 international runs, gets the remaining 37 runs against West Indies on Thursday then he will be the 12th batsman to this landmark and the 3rd Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. Sachin scored 34,357 runs while Dravid scored 24,208 runs.

Virat Kohli will become the quickest:

The all-time great Sachin Tendulkar and Windies’ legend Brian Lara scored 20,000 runs in International Cricket in 453 innings, which is still the fastest for any batsman.

Virat Kohli, who made his International debut in 2008 under MS Dhoni, has 19,963 runs under his belt in just 416 innings across all formats. He needs to score only 37 runs in the next 36 innings to become the fastest batsman to achieve this feat.

Well, the new stat would certainly make Virat Kohli be the cynosure of the eyes when India take on West Indies in their next ICC World Cup 2019 match at Old Trafford, Manchester on Thursday.

Virat Kohli smashed three consecutive hundreds when India faced ‘Men in Maroon’ for the last time in a bilateral ODI series. The flamboyant batsman is in decent nick in the tournament as well. He scored three fifties in the tournament so far and a three-figure mark is around the corner for him.

Well, it won’t be that easy for Kohli against Windies bowlers. The likes of Sheldon Cottrell, Jason Holder and  Oshane Thomas will certainly make his stay in the crease a tough one. However, Virat Kohli got the calibre to tackle such bowlers.

Apart from his personal record, Virat Kohli is wary that India’ s chances have heavily relied on their top-order. With Shikhar Dhawan being ruled out, Kohli has got much on his shoulders to carry.
