Former Team India opener Virender Sehwag has picked his India squad for the 2019 World Cup where he has made 7 changes from the 2015 World Cup squad where India was eliminated after losing the semi-final to Australia. Virender Sehwag has picked Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma as the two regular openers. He picked KL Rahul as the backup opener who might also play a role at No 4.
Sehwag also picked Rishabh Pant as the reserve wicket-keeper besides Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The former swashbuckling batsman has also added the likes of Vijay Shankar to the squad with the certainty Hardik Pandya also there in the squad. As a spinning all-rounder, Sehwag has picked Ravindra Jadeja who has clawed his way back into the ODI team on the back of some exceptional performances.
Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are the three expected fast bowlers for Virender Sehwag. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also a terrific bowler but his form off late hasn’t been that great which might make him the 3rd seamer in the squad.
The two main spinners in the team are undoubtedly Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal who has done a terrific job for India in the recent past. The wrist spinning duo has bagged several wickets for the Men n Blue in the last one and a half year and has been a game changer for them. They should look to come here on the back of some good performances in the IPL.
The X factor for India in the World Cup might turn out to be Kedar Jadhav who has done a terrific all-round job for India in the limited opportunities he has got. He will look to keep himself fit for the World Cup. In the past, there have been instances when injuries have ruled him out of big tournaments.
