ICC World Cup 2019 Warm-up, Match 4: India vs New Zealand- Match Prediction
The Men in Blue will start of their World Cup campaign with a warm-up clash against New Zealand slated to be played in Kennington Oval in London. It might be a warm-up game but both teams will look to play with intensity and get their combinations sorted ahead of the main event. Both teams have experienced and talented players in their ranks. However, there is certainly no doubt about the fact that India will begin as one of the hot favourites to lift their 3rd World Cup title.
The Indian top 3 looks settled. The opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan is expected to start the tournament. However, KL Rahul can play a part as well. He might be asked to bat at No 4 but if one of the openers fail, Rahul might be required as an opener for the following part of the tournament. Captain Virat Kohli is definitely the greatest batsman of the generation and will look to lead his side to the 3rd World Cup title.
The three all-rounders in the team are Hardik Pandya, Vijay Shankar and Ravindra Jadeja. In all likelihood, the first two will be part of the playing xi at least in the first match. However, Jadeja can also be played in some of the matches depending upon the condition. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya has emerged as one of the finest hitters of the ball and will definitely be the X factor player for the Men in Blue.
Vijay Shankar will play an important role depending upon the requirement of the team. Kedar Jadhav if available is expected to feature in the Playing XI. Meanwhile, the bowling department has all its bases covered. The pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami is arguably the best fast bowling unit in the world cup. On the other hand, the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal will also pose a serious threat to the opposition.
The Black Caps have exceptional players in their ranks as well. Tom Latham has been ruled out of the first warm-up fixture after sustaining an injury during a practice session in England. The top order is heavily reliant on the likes of Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson who has been the two most consistent top order batsmen for New Zealand in ODI’s.
The middle order looks a bit fragile but has the effectiveness of doing the job for their team. It will be interesting to see how they cope against their much-fancied opponents India. The bowling department will be led by Trent Boult who is a world class bowler and has the ability to win matches single-handedly for his team on his day. The spin department is also covered with the likes of Ish Sodhi.
Time and Location:
The fourth warm-up match will be played at Kennington Oval, London from 9:30 am (IST 3:00).
It is expected to be a cold day in London and should be a perfect day for cricket. The temperature is expected to hover around 15 to 22 degrees and there are no chances of rain. Hence we can expect a full 50 overs game.
The surface at the Kennington Oval in London is expected to be a placid track and should be a batting friendly wicket. With all the 15 players expected to play a part in the match, we might witness a run fest tomorrow.
It will be difficult to predict the winners for tomorrow’s class especially due to the fact that it will be a warm-up affair. Both teams won’t have the same intensity but still I feel India will win tomorrow’s clash.
