Veteran batsman Chris Gayle who is currently representing his country in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 said he stands among the West Indies greats. Meanwhile, West Indies face a possible ouster from the tournament having won only one of six games so far.

Gayle had earlier said that he will retire from international cricket after the end of the World Cup. However, Chris Gayle has shown interest to play the series against India just the marquee event before bidding farewell to cricket. While addressing the media on the eve of the game against India, the southpaw said that he feels there are few more game s left in him. The 39-year-old Jamaica-born cricketer has represented West Indies in 103 Tests, 295 ODIs, and 58 T20Is over a span of 20 years.

Despite having many ups and downs throughout his career, Chris Gayle said that he will go down as one of the greats to represent West Indies. Notably, Gayle is arguably the best cricketer to represent the team from the Caribbean Islands in recent times.
“I’m definitely up there with the greats, without a doubt. Like I say, I enjoy each and every moment playing for West Indies,” Gayle said.
West Indies host India for two Tests, three ODIs and three Twenty20 internationals in August and September and Chris Gayle feels that is the right time to bid goodbye to cricket. The 39-year-old has also expressed his desire to play a Test match. Gayle last played a Test was way back in 2014.

“Maybe a Test match against India and definitely play the ODIs against India. I won’t play the T20s. That’s my plan after the World Cup,” he concluded.
However, Chris Gayle eyes will be on West Indies’ next game against India on June 27 at the Old Trafford in Manchester. They will have to win all their games to make it to the semifinals of the World Cup.
