There was a mixed opinion on MS Dhoni’s batting approach against Windies, a section of people felt that it was slow from him while the other felt it was important. Meanwhile, the fast bowler of India Jasprit Bumrah has rated MS Dhoni’s knock against Windies as one of the best innings from him.

After Virat Kohli opted to bat first on a flat pitch at Old Trafford, India kept losing wickets at regular intervals with only the captain going on to score a fifty-plus score. While opener KL Rahul scored 48, India’s middle-order combination of Vijay Shankar and Kedar Jadhav could only muster 14 and 7 runs respectively.

However, MS Dhoni stood tall in the middle. He had a crucial partnership with Hardik Pandya before whacking the balls out of the park in the last couple of overs. Despite finishing with 56 off 61 balls, he faced criticism from quite a few fans and experts.

MS Dhoni absorbs Pressure – Jasprit Bumrah

Speaking of the same, India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah felt that Mahendra Singh Dhoni played a “top-rated” knock in the World Cup clash against the West Indies. And also, believes that he did the right thing by taking his time in the middle.

“The innings that he played is the kind which is very under-rated. Sometimes you might feel that he is batting slow but sometimes it is important that he takes time, which he did,” Bumrah said on ‘bcci.tv’.

“He absorbs the pressure and takes the game deep. It was top-rated innings and got us to 268, which was a good total on this pitch. He knew there were pinch-hitters coming later so he could take his time. Youngsters can learn a lot from this knock,” he added.

However, it was a brilliant day for MS Dhoni. Apart from contributing with the bat, Dhoni also took a brilliant one-handed diving catch to dismiss Carlos Brathwaite.

Bumrah bowled the delivery from wide of the crease and Brathwaite had no option but to follow the ball. The ball took the outside edge of his bat and Dhoni dived to his right and completed a one-handed stunning catch.

After the match against West Indies, India will take on England, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. They are one match away to get a place in the semifinal.
