ICC World Cup 2023: ICC Announces Schedule For ICC World Cup Qualifier Playoff

The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Monday (March 20), announced the schedule for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier Playoff. The schedule came after the confirmation of the six teams that will be participating in the event.

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier Playoff will be taking place in Namibia from 26 March to 5 April. The six teams participating in the Playoff are – hosts Namibia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Papua New Guinea, Canada and Jersey.

The World Cup Qualifier Playoff is the second last stage before the World Cup. It features the teams that are placed in the bottom four places of the Men’s CWC League 2 and the top spots in the CWC Challenge League A and B respectively after four years of competition.

The tournament will be played in a round-robin format and the top two teams will qualify for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier that will be hosted in Zimbabwe from 18 June – 9 July.

ICC World Cup Qualifier Playoff schedule:

The ICC World Cup Qualifier Playoff will be played across two venues in Namibia – the Wanderers Cricket Ground and the United Cricket Club Ground. Both the venues are located in the capital city of Windhoek. All the games will be beginning at 09h30 local time.

Hosts Namibia will be locking horns against the United States in the first game of the competition. Namibia had narrowly failed to qualify for the World Cup qualifier after finishing fourth in the World Super League 2.

On the second day of the competition, all the four other teams will be in action. The UAE and PNG will face-off at the Wanderers Cricket Ground while Canada will take on Jersey at the United Cricket Club Ground.
