India vs Pakistan is one of the best cricket rivalries over the past few decades. It is an intriguing battle that got the pulse of cricket fans from across the world. On the other hand, both teams showed their supremacy over other in their own ways.
However, when it comes to world cups, India have never lost to Pakistan in the mega event. But Pakistan had dominated India in the overall head to head battles. Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has picked a combined team of India-Pakistan in ODI format.
Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag earned their places in this XI as the openers. Both the players have become Indian legends and are one of the most destructive opening partners in ODI history.
Vaughan opted for current Indian skipper Virat Kohli at number three. On the other hand, he went for experienced Inzamam Ul Haq and Javed Miandad as the middle order batsmen in his combined XI.
Both of Pakistan players are known for their exemplary services to Pakistan cricket. During their playing days, there are a treat to watch. They went to become Pakistan legends and broke numerous records in the process.
MS Dhoni is named as the captain of combined India-Pakistan XI
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni is considered as the wicket keeper in Vaughan’s India-Pakistan combined XI. The former Indian captain is widely regarded one of the greatest wicket keepers of all time. There are only a couple of names which could be ahead in the list when it comes to purely wicket keeping. However, his batting sets him apart from other wicket keepers that graced cricket so far.
1992 world cup winning captain Imran Khan is the all rounder in the side. Although, there is Kapil Dev, Vaughan had favored Imrah Khan ahead of him. On the other hand, the legendary pace duo of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis are the fore front bowlers in this lineup.
Both the bowlers had formed a formidable bowling partnership for Pakistan during 1990s and early 2000s. They are arguably the best pace duo to have played in the same era together. On the other hand, Anil Kumble takes the sole spinner slot in this lineup.
The legendary Indian bowler had been a wonderful contributor to the national team across the formats. The latest addition to this combined XI is Jasprit Bumrah. The young pacer is the world’s best death over bowling.
He is only getting better with age. Needless to say, he is among the very best bowlers in this era already. There are no limits to what Bumrah can achieve in his career with the potential he has.
