March 2016 is about to become a booming period for broadcasters as 16 teams collide to battle for the ICC World T20 championship. The timetable or schedule for the World T20 tournament is yet to be declared by the governing council, the ICC.
10 full member teams are joined by 6 other associate teams who won the qualifiers held in Ireland and Scotland. This time, the battleground for all 16 teams is the Indian subcontinent. While India hosted and won the 2011 World Cup (50-over), they would automatically the favorites to win this one too as home conditions prefer their strength – spin bowling.
This is the 1st time when India is hosting a tournament without any collaborations with any other cricket playing nation. The tournament would be a month-long affair with proceedings starting from 11th March to 3rd April, 2016.
Here are the list of broadcasters who would be providing live telecasts of the game in various parts of the world –
1. Star Cricket HD – Star Cricket HD would be an active broadcaster in telecasting all the live matches starting from the qualifiers that were held in Ireland and Scotland in 2015 to the actual event that is about to be held in India, 2016. It would be facilitating its telecast to India and its neighboring countries as well.
2. Super Sports – Super Sports is another broadcaster which would telecast live action starting from the qualifiers till the final match of the ICC World T20. Its major target and fan base resides in South Africa but Super Sports would be functional in telecasting World Cup matches live in other parts of the world as well.
3. Star Cricket – This particular channel would telecast all the T20 qualifier matches live from Ireland and Scotland with their best of services available in Hong Kong, Singapore and Papue New Guinea.
4. PTV – PTV is a major player in Pakistan in terms of channels and broadcasting. It broadcasts other sports like football and tennis as well. Pakistan would receive their bit of World T20 from PTV broadcasters itself with additional areas of UAE and Saudi Arabia also being covered in the network.
5. MTV – MTV is the official sports channel to provide its services in Sri Lanka. MTV would be the one to broadcast the major tournament’s happenings, live to the people from Sri Lanka starting from the qualifiers to the finals of the tournament.
6. Gazi TV – Gazi TV would be broadcasting the ICC World T20’s matches live to the country of Bangladesh. Its list of covered broadcasting matches starts from qualifiers in Ireland and Scotland to the Finals that is going to be held in India.
