Virat Kohli-led India have started their campaign in the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (2019-21) with a record-margin victory. After securing a giant victory in this game, the no.1-ranked Test side India are leading the points table of this Championship.

Till the 25th August 2019, a total of six teams out of nine participants have started their journey in this new tournament. The 2019-21 ICC World Test Championship has begun with the beginning of Ashes 2019.

In the Ashes 2019, the hosts England have already played three games against the visitors Australia. The visitors Australia won the first Test at Birmingham by 251 runs. In the next game, both sides had a thrilling draw result at Lord’s. On last Sunday (25th August), England won the thrilling third Test at Leeds by just one wicket.

After the three matches of Ashes 2019, both England and Australia have won 32 points in the Test Championship contest. However, the visitors are slightly ahead in the RpW ratio.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka opened their points account after beating New Zealand by six wickets in the Galle Test. Sri Lanka and New Zealand are currently busy in the ongoing second and final Test of this series at Colombo (P. Sara Oval). The hosts Sri Lanka are currently battling to save the Colombo Test match.

After the Galle Test match, Sri Lanka have earned 60 points in the Test Championship and also managed the RpW ratio of 1.413.

India have earned 60 points and 2.338 RpW ratio

On the other hand, India achieved a solid victory in the first Test of two-match Test series against the host Windies. In that Antigua Test, India won by 318 runs and it was also India’s largest victory (by runs) in away Test.

With this large victory, India have not only earned 60 points, but they have also managed the high RpW ratio of 2.338. Due to the high RpW ratio, India is ahead of Sri Lanka in the Test Championship points table.

Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh are the other three teams who haven’t started their journey in the 2019-21 ICC World Test Championship yet.
