I’d Love To Feature Deepika Padukone Or Priyanka Chopra In My Debut Music Video, Says Andre Russell

West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell is making the most of his time away from the cricket field. The 28-year-old, who plied his trade for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the last edition of the Indian Premier League, has been banned for a year from the game after an anti-doping panel found him guilty of violating the whereabouts clause. The ban was imposed on January 31, 2017, and will last until January 30, 2018.
But instead of sitting idly, Russell is now trying his luck another field: music. The West Indian himself confirmed the news.
“It is true that I will be debuting as a singer this year. Since I’m not playing cricket currently, I thought it would make sense to utilise my time and resources more constructively. And that’s when I came up with the idea of putting together a single.”
“Cricket has always been my first love, but I’m quite fond of singing and dancing, too, since we Jamaicans love music and it runs in our blood,” added the hard-hitting batsman from the Caribbeans.
Debuting as a singer will see Russell following the footsteps of his West Indies teammate Dwayne Bravo. The all-rounder, who is currently playing for Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League, launched his musical career last year with the hit single Champion that took the world by storm.
Russell also revealed he was taking tips from Bravo.
“I’ll also shoot the video for my next single. I’ve been taking lessons from Bravo in music,” he said.
Russell has been signed by the same Los Angeles-based record label that’s handling Bravo.
“They’re based in Los Angeles, and they are the same (label) who were also the producers for (Justin) Bieber’s recent song, Sorry. In fact, I recorded in the same studio and mic (with which) Bieber recorded,” said Russell.
He further revealed his plan of roping in some renowned Bollywood actresses for his music video.
“I will be visiting India in April to see if I can rope in a Bollywood actress to feature in the video, apart from meeting all my cricketer friends. I’d love to feature Deepika Padukone or Priyanka Chopra in it,” he said.
