Iftikhar Ahmed has replaced Haris Sohail in the Pakistan ODI squad for the last 3 matches of the ongoing series against New Zealand which will be played in Karachi. Iftikhar Ahmed will join the side in Karachi itself.
Haris Sohail had suffered a shoulder injury on the eve of the first ODI after he landed awkwardly during a fielding drill that injured his left shoulder.
Pakistan won the first ODI played in Rawalpindi on April 27, 2023, by 5 wickets. New Zealand had batted first in the match and thanks to 113 from Daryl Mitchell and 86 from Will Young had posted 288/7 in 50 overs.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi took 2/63, Naseem Shah took 2/29 and Haris Rauf took 2/65.
Then Pakistan replied in kind as openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam UL Haq added 124 runs for the first wicket, with Imam making 60 runs. The Babar Azam joined Fakhar and added 90 runs with the Pakistani captain scoring 49 runs.
But Fakhar Zaman continued his knock and made 117 in 114 balls with 13 fours and 1 six and the match was finished by Mohammad Rizwan who smacked 42* in 34 balls with 6 fours and 1 six and Pakistan romped home with 9 balls to spare and 5 wickets in hand.
Adam Milne was the best bowler for New Zealand with 2/60.

Meanwhile, the second ODI got underway in Rawalpindi on April 29, 2023, and Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bowl first. Express pace bowler Ihsanullah is making his debut for Pakistan in ODIs. Shaheen Afridi handed him his Pakistan cap.
