Called in as a replacement for an injured Steve Finn, the right-arm fast bowler tom Curran is ready to give his all if he gets an opportunity in the upcoming Magellan Ashes Test series. Curran reached Adelaide earlier today, just three days after getting a call-up.
The 22-year-old Curran, who hasn’t featured for England yet might get some playing time in England’s third and final warm-up game after another pace Jake ball sustained an injury on his right ankle during the ongoing day-night fixture against Cricket Australia XI.
Talking about being picked up for an Ashes Test, the young seamer remarked:
“Definitely, I just landed this morning, but whatever I’m asked I’ll give it 100 percent. It’s happened a lot quicker than I would have expected, with a couple of injuries, but that’s professional sport – you get your go, and it’s about taking it. That’s my plan.”
Curran has grown up only playing cricket as his elder brother Sam Curran is a player of County club Surrey and his father Kevin Curran was an ex-Zimbabwe, Northamptonshire and Gloucestershire all-rounder. Curran was scheduled to fly to Australia next month for the Big Bash League to play for Hobart Hurricanes.

“This is as big as it gets. Being involved in an Ashes series is what I have dreamed of since I was a kid and it’s a great opportunity for me. I can’t wait to get amongst it. I’m overwhelmed with emotion, and it’s a very proud day for both me and my family,” a delighted Curran stated while talking about his call-up.
Curran had an amazing 48 hours of getting aware of his call; however, he looked calm and alerted when he landed.
“I was having a little sleep, woke up to two missed calls – and there’s been a lot happening since then. I was supposed to be going to the Twenty20 tournament in South Africa – so when that got canceled I pretty much had some time to train in England before coming out here to play in the Big Bash. It looks like the Big Bash is off for me now. Playing in that would have been a great experience, but it doesn’t get bigger than playing in Ashes series,” he signed off.
