A demolition drive launched by the local civil body against unauthorized structures in the city razed cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s restaurant due to illegal construction. The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) demolished illegal houses, shops, and an unauthorised portion of ‘Jadddu’s food field’, the restaurant owned by left-arm spinner and batsman Ravindra Jadeja, who is currently a part of the Indian Test team.
“A team of RMC pulled down a store room and a kitchen constructed illegally by the management of Jaddu’s Food Field restaurant located on Kalavad Road” town planning officer MD Sagathiya said.
“The demolition drive was conducted in two areas — Mavdi Road and Kalavad road. The corporation demolished 32 houses and pulled down illegal portion of commercial buildings in both these localities” Sagathiya added.
Before launching the drive the corporation had issued notices to those whose constructions were found to be illegal, RMC sources said.
“The corporation had issued notices to 97 people, who had constructed either houses, or shops illegally,”
Among the 97 people who were issued a notice, 60 of them have pulled down their unauthorised structures voluntarily.
