Following the team’s last match in the IPL on Sunday, spinner Imran Tahir penned an emotional note that he had a heavy feeling in his heart for the fans and thanked them for the love and support. Pakistan-born South African spinner did not get many opportunities in this year’s IPL, but when he featured for CSK eventually, he dismissed Kings XI Punjab’s (KXIP) Chris Gayle in a must-win match for the KL Rahul-led side.

Imran Tahir has 80 wickets in 58 matches averaging 21.09 and was last season’s purple cap holder by virtue of taking maximum wickets. This season, he featured in only 3 matches where he picked one wicket.

Imran Tahir said he would come back stronger next year and if given a chance will perform better. He had picked up 26 wickets in 17 matches in 2019 averaging a meagre 16.57 but was considered in 2020 only when CSK were eliminated.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf Du Plessis played knocks of unbeaten 62 and 48 respectively as CSK defeated KXIP by nine wickets at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday successfully chasing 154 to win after Lungi Ngidi picked three wickets which restricted Punjab to 153/6. Lungi Ngidi picked nine wickets from four matches averaging only 18.55 and should have played more matches.

With this loss, KXIP has been knocked out of the playoff race as they are 6th. KL Rahul-led side has to settle with 12 points from 14 matches, while 7th placed CSK also has the same number of points from as many matches.
