Steve Smith & Co. will curse themselves for missing the opportunity of starting the ODI series with a thumping win over the hosts. They had the proceeding in their grip inside the first six overs but later fizzled out completely to help India go 1-0 up in the series.
The bowling attack led by Nathan Coulter-Nile looked top notch at the onset before Hardik Pandya, and MS Dhoni set the stage for Australia’s defeat. Rain did try to balance things out again in favour of the visitors, as the target had to get revised and the Australian innings got reduced to 21 overs following a loss of play time.
However, the young Indian spinning duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav did not allow a scope of any contest and dismantled the Australians to win it for India. The performance from Australia was, no doubt, underwhelming. They have a lot of planning and assessments to do now after the opening ODI.
With that being said, let’s have a look at the individual report cards of the players and learn how they fared on Sunday.
