Late evening showers washed out team India’s practice session ahead of the first T20I in Ranchi on Thursday. The team was to have an evening practice session before the first T20I on Saturday, but the rain had some other plans.
Australian team though already had tightened their screws, as their practice session got scheduled for the afternoon, which was a smooth affair.
It is not the first time when team India’s practice session got washed out, as during the ODI series, on some occasions, the same issue hampered the preparations of team India and here as well, the rain followed the Indian team.
However, the rain was just a passing shower as per an official, which will have no impact on the game,
“Such passing showers are normal this time. But the good thing is rain comes and goes and is not prolonged this time of the year. We have adequate measures to prepare the ground for the match,” an official told PTI.
The first T20I of the three-match series will be played at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi, the hometown of the former Indian captain MS Dhoni. This stadium had hosted one T20I till now, which saw India and Sri Lanka taking on each other in the second T20I of three matches T20I series last year.
Then, the team India defeated Sri Lanka by a big margin of 69 runs, to make a comeback and equal the series by a margin of 1-1. Team India will look for the same result this time too, as the Australian team had already lost the ODI series by a margin of 1-4 and they would look to bounce back in the shortest format of the game. Also, their IPL experience will also come into play during the series.
