Having already won the series in Indore, the hosts will be now keen to ensure that all their players get a decent hit in the middle. That was precisely why three unexpected changes got made in Bengaluru, a move which didn’t pay off with rich dividends.
Shami and Umesh in their initial spells looked rusty and short of match practice. The batsmen though did well and for a majority of the chase, and were in control. Well, in that aspect too there were a few questionable decisions made, such as demoting MS Dhoni to number seven. The intention to try out Hardik Pandya at four might not be a bad one, but the gamble of reserving Dhoni deep down below at number seven is surely not what makes sense.
Having said so, India will be eager to end the series on a high and win in Nagpur. Nagpur traditionally has been a happy hunting ground for the Indian spinners, and another decent performance is expected out of the team.
